Zheng was born and raised in Jakarta, but moved to Beijing when he was 11. At the age of 18, he moved to the US, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV, and Film Production at the University of Texas-Austin.

In addition to film, Zheng is dedicated to charitable endeavors.  For example, he launched his own films and documentaries, including co-founding and building an educational outreach service group for poorly funded rural Chinese schools. Zheng also began making documentaries focusing on another one of his passions: Education for economically disadvantaged children, and for migrant workers. He wrote and directed a documentary about the Book-a-Book Foundation, a group he co-founded to raise money to create a mobile library service for under-developed migrant schools around Beijing. Zheng also shot a documentary about Children’s Hope Foundation, which serves Beijing’s most impoverished schools, and the Hearts 4 Arts Foundation about high school students who provide arts education to migrant students.

Besides film, Ken is a competitive martial artist. He won numerous competitions, including the US Open, which has inspired his love for acting and writing.
